After driving off a boat ramp and into the water, the car drifted for roughly 20 feet before sinking.

the Moss Point Police Department claimed: “The driver of that vehicle stated she was following her GPS and did not realize she was going into the water.”

Corion Evans then removed his shirt, shoes, and phone before jumping into the lake.

Evans believed he had the ski lls necessary to help because he has been swimming since he was 3 years old.

He recalled: “I was just like, ‘I can’t let none of these folks die. They need to get out the water.’ So, I just started getting them. I wasn’t even thinking about nothing else.”

A buddy of his named Karon ′′KJ′′ Bradley joined him and assisted in getting the girls onto the car’s roof.

When Moss Point Police Officer Gary Mercer arrived, he discovered the teen already being in the water.

Mercer was bringing someone to shore when the girl began panicking and he swallowed some water as a result

Corion remembered watching the officer exhausted and cry out for assistance.

“So, I went over there. I went and I grabbed the police officer and I’m like swimming him back until I feel myself I can walk.”

The good news is that Mercer and the three young women are recovering in the hospital.

He said: “Twenty-five yards out, so it was a lot of swimming. My legs were so tired after. Anything could’ve been in that water, though. But I wasn’t thinking about it.”

Brandon Ashley, the chief of Moss Point, praised Corion for his courage and effort.

He claimed: “The police department and I commend Mr. Evans’s bravery and selflessness he displayed by risking his own safety to help people in da nger.”

Ashley stated that they might have dragged bodies out of the river instead if Evan’s rescue efforts weren’t successful.

Corion was given a certificate of distinction from Moss Point city officials in appreciation for his bravery.

Additionally, the authorities commended Mercer for his “bravery in the rescue.”

Marquita Evans, Corion’s mother, is pleased with her son’s bravery and grateful that no one was hurt.

Knowing how dan Fgerous the rescue was, she is relieved that her son survived.
