In a video that he recently released, Toby Keith expresses his inability to accept an award because of his battle with stomach cancer.
This week, Toby Keith informed his followers on social media that he would be
unable to travel to The SabesWings’ Second Annual Strike Out Fundraiser to accept his lifetime achievement award because of stomach cancer treatments.
At the SabesWings’ second annual Strike Out fundraiser in Paso Robles, California, Toby Keith received a Lifetime Achievement Award and accepted it virtually.
In the video, Keith said he was humbled to receive the accolade and expressed remorse over not being able to accept it in person.
The 61-year-old singer said, “I’m happy to collect the SabesWings lifetime achievement award. I’m sorry; I’ve had a difficult year fighting cancer myself and was unable to make it to the event.
Keith continued by thanking “all the folks at SabesWings” and discussing the award in more detail.
According to him, “Bret and Kandace select individuals for this distinction based on three criteria: service to a group of people in need, making a difference in the lives of others, and the common thread of working cooperatively with other organisations having a goal and passion.”
According to MyRadioLink, Keith was alluding to the fact that this event’s hosts were former MLB all-star Bret Saberhagen and his wife, Kandace.
The SabesWings charity, which helps cancer patients in need of financial support for medical expenses, received $1,046,000 thanks to the fundraising event, which was a huge success.
